ReplyDeleteI don't know what tools are available, but one thing you might offer is suggestions on tools (free or otherwise) that a newbie can use to build a family tree.

Good idea, John. For starters I recommend visiting familysearch.org, going to Research Helps/Guidance, and clicking on "Where Do I Begin." Stick with Step One for starters, which is to write down what you know, rummage through the attic and old trucks, and to talk with all of your relatives. The good thing with this is that you do get to know your relatives a lot better!
